Yeah, my name is Stephen Counts, also known as DJ Universe. I'm the founder of Down By Law Management LLC, where I manage hip-hop music artists.
All right, hip-hop, right? Yeah. Okay, so how many artists you got on your roster?
Right now, our roster contains five artists, including myself. Okay, and you're from near Jacksonville, is that right? I'm originally from Columbus, Ohio, but yeah, I'm south of Jacksonville now, about an hour south.
All right. And your artists that you got on your label, they're from Florida or local?
Two of my artists are actually in Columbus, Ohio, where I'm from. And then me and my AI artists are down here. And then another artist is actually from Louisiana, but is in Calabasas, California.

My artist in Columbus, Ohio, you know, I grew up with him and he has another artist that comes to his studio and we met through my artist up there and he's got his own studio. So that's Makeshift Studios. And he basically brings in all kinds of talent and is working with a lot of artists. He's got a couple of different groups he's in. and basically he does all the engineer work and when i moved down here to florida i left all of my studio equipment up there with him so i could start new down here so we got a studio up there in ohio makeshift studios and then my studio down here is everlasting impressions studios all right all right nice everlasting impressions like so what kind of hip-hop these guys doing because uh hip-hop in my day and hip-hop today is completely different stuff you know hopefully no mumble rap
Yeah, we're more old school. You know, we grew up in the 80s and were very influenced through 90s hip hop. Yeah, okay.

Yeah, my main artist, he just released his album called Natural. His name is Mayhem. His album came out December 26th, last year. All right. And I'll tell you what, he's got almost all the artists that comes and works with him featured on the album. He's, of course, got me listed as the manager on there. And he's doing really big things.
Nice, nice. Yeah. And so, yeah, 90s, I mean, I grew up in the era when the old Kanye era, and even before the old Kanye, right? So, yeah, I mean, from Planet Rock and then to Kanye was the old Kanye, and then I kind of got out of it, you know?
My influences, I mainly grew up on KRS-One.
