Hello, welcome back to the Money Mindset Podcast. I'm your host, Ashley, with Budgets Made Easy, and I'm so glad you're here today. And we are getting back on track. The kids are back in school this week. We are catching up on sleep and enjoying the fall weather here. Oh Gosh, fall is my favorite. And it has been in the 60s in the morning, like high 70s. It has been absolutely beautiful. So it is time to get back in the routine of things, let things settle. And you know what? Fall's a great time for a restart, a fresh start. Get back on track and get focused before the chaos of the holidays that are coming. literally right around the corner, right? It's easy to get off track during the summer and you know, now that the kids are back in school, the weather's changing, it's good time to get back on track.
So today we are going to talk about how to handle your money this fall. that sets the tone that's gonna set you up for success in 2026. Because believe it or not, your success for next year does not start on January 1st. It actually starts now. Now is the time to plan. Now is the time to start thinking about what your goals are for next year and setting yourself up for success. So grab a cup of coffee, Buckle in, let's get settled and dive in. Welcome to the Money Mindset Podcast, where you'll find a judgment-free zone to help you free yourself from overthinking and the fear of doing things the wrong way. It's time to shed yourself of the mom guilt, procrastination, and perfectionism so you can start doing the things that you really want to do with your money instead of just working to pay bills.
I'm Ashley Patrick, ex-detective turned debt-free CEO of my very own business and stay-at-home mom of three. Not too long ago, my dreams of staying at home with my kids seemed impossible. I thought I'd have to stay miserable in a high stress and demanding job just so I could retire someday. After gaining the confidence in my own ability to manage my family's finances and a simple step by step plan to make it happen, I was able to pay off $45,000 in just 17 months, which then allowed me to finally quit my job, stay at home with my kids and build a debt free business. Now my mission is to help moms like you conquer debt and free themselves from the mental load of handling their family's finances.
If you're ready to shed the guilt and shame surrounding your past money mistakes and tackle your debt, this is the place for you. Let's get started. All right, step one in your fall financial game plan is reviewing your summer spending. Now, I know we may not wanna think about it. We may wanna just be done with that season and move on, but remember, it's just data. Let's think about it logically without the emotion, which I know is hard to do, but we just have to know where we're starting from for the fall so that we can make a realistic game plan for the rest of this year, for quarter four. That's gonna set us up for success in 2026. So I want you to look back. If you don't wanna look back the entire summer, just look back the past month, maybe the past couple weeks,
figure out where did my money go? How much did you spend on groceries? How much on gas? How much on just random spending? And if you haven't already, how much are your bills? When are they due? Like the basics of your budget, right? If you haven't figured that out before, now's the time as you're looking through where your money went, write those things down because you're going to need it in step two. But this process is not about beating yourself up, making yourself feel guilty, because that is not a game plan for success. Shame is not a very good motivator, believe it or not. I know there's some personalities out there on the internet that want to make you feel guilty for going out to eat when you're in debt and all of the things.
But Shame and not enjoying your life is not a very good indicator of success. You know what is a good indicator of success? Excitement. So how excited are you to reach your goal? That's the indicator of success.
