What do Melissa and Donna introduce at the beginning of the episode?
Mm-hmm.
Hello, hello, I'm Melissa. And I'm Donna. We're here sharing what we've learned as women, entrepreneurs, and moms. Oh, while rocking our curves with confidence. It's a behind-the-scenes
look at our lives and businesses. And a chance to tell our younger selves, go do the things that scare you. Okay, let's have a very uncomfortable conversation. But it's one that like we deal with so much.
Uncomfortable because I have cramps right now? No. Uncomfortable for Jim who has to edit this
and he's gonna be like blah blah blah
blah blah. When you messaged me I was like dying. I'm like, oh my god, I think it's perfect and I'm
so perfect.
Like I was shocked. Like honestly I don't know. Let's
talk about sex. No, let's not talk about sex. Let's talk about periods.
Why do they call it an “uncomfortable conversation” and what does it lead to?
Periods. Oh, and everything around it.
Not from hockey. That's the only time you hear guys talk about periods. Otherwise they're like Run Oh
I Unfortunately I talk about it in my lots of boys in your house. I tell 'em, hey, mom needs a timeout the next couple of days or don't come near mom for the next two days because I just want to lie on the couch and do nothing. Like leave me alone. I have struggled with not having my period for a long time. Like I was so good. Like I've I think I've had my we did we talked about before, but I've had my period probably since I was like twelve. I'm thinking it was young. I had my period young. And I remember when I got it, it was horrible. I think trained seven. Yeah. I remember I was in the back of my parents' Aerostar. We were driving to Leon's furniture in Burlington and I could feel this weird pain. And I'm like, What is this?
And I'm like, I have to go to the bathroom. I went to the bathroom and I was like, oh my god. I'm I know. And I remember getting it then and it it was always been the same. Consistent, consistent. And probably in the last three years Remember
going to the library and watching the videos? We wat we went to the library to watch the videos about getting your period. I don't remember them. I do not remember them.
I don't remember that. No. No. Probably you did because you knew that sitting there seeing that you were probably got it already
and I was like, Okay, I already know what this is about and I'm like, Oh my god, it's so embarrassing. It's a it's a scary thing, right, when you're little.
It is the worst. It is like the worst thing. I just I freaking hated it. I I have been period free for I was trying to think. Uh like I'm fifty six. I wanna say it's four years now. And let me tell ya Free! Oh man, I thought I was there.
I thought I was there. I hadn't had a period since December and then September, like a month ago, right before we started doing this, I was like, What is that pain in the middle of the night? And then I was like, Oh, please don't tell me. Please don't tell me and I I actually think I messaged my girlfriend and I'm like, Guess what? We hit ten months and she was like, Fuck, now you gotta start again. I'm like, damn it! And then I got it this week. And then I got it this week.
So
I I don't know. Well the
irregularity irre irre irregularity, thank you very much, words. Um that's a good sign 'cause that means it's petering out. I know, but it kind of works
of vengeance,
man.
It's the worst.
Freaking what what was God thinking with this one?
I haven't had cramps like this since I was a kid.
How do Melissa and Donna share their personal experiences with irregular periods and cramps?
I was like y I literally the other night in the middle of the night I was like got up and I'm like my back is killing I'm like am I do I have appendicitis? I'm like what is this pain? And I'm like, it can't be. It cannot be. Went to the bathroom, nothing. I'm like, okay, I'm I'm delusional. I went and took Advil, then I woke up and went to the bathroom. I'm like, oh no, I was not delusional. And it was yesterday and I just like what the and I how do you feel? I
feel weak and nauseous and
But I did go to the gym. I was like, I'm not gonna go to the gym. Because it's good for you. Yeah. To
do
that
running or
extra like
biking or something to get
I I wasn't gonna go and then I was like, you know what, fuck it. I'm just gonna go and do it and then maybe I'll feel good.
