Everybody's going to be talking about what is probably the most controversial moment in the history of the Oscars, certainly one of them. And if you were wondering what Will Smith's property looks like, we'll take a look at that as well.
It's the main centre forecast with propertybuyer.com.au.
Yeah, let's have a look at the weather and looking at today's weather from Sydney expecting one or two showers today, expecting a high of 22 degrees. Melbourne partly cloudy, also 22.

Chapter 2: What is the background of Will Smith's slap incident?
Brisbane expecting rain with 25 as their high. And in Perth expecting a high of 28. Eight degrees with a shower or two and possible storms. And just a reminder, we have the podcast series Let's Talk Commercial with Scott O'Neill coming up again on Thursday where Scott breaks down the commercial property market and how to invest the right way into commercial.
We feature market updates, interviews and trends. It's your real estate podcast for breakfast.
Well, as I mentioned, the 2022 Oscar ceremony was kind of derailed last night when Will Smith walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock across the face for making a joke about his wife Jada. Now, if you haven't seen it, Chris Rock referenced Jada's baldness. She has alopecia and made a reference to the 1997 movie G.I. Jane, which features a bald Demi Moore.
Shortly after smacking, the comedian Will Smith returned to the stage for winning Best Leading Actor. Some of the comments that have been coming through, Howard Stern, the radio host, wondered where the show's security team was and suggested the fact that Will Smith was allowed to stick around for the rest of the show was a double standard in Hollywood.
Here's Hollywood that's so outraged by every little thing he said, not one person got up and said, hold on, we got an out-of-control situation. Now this guy was allowed to sit there for the rest of the awards. And there's been plenty of people weighing in and making comments. I think what surprised me... Hi, Craig. Well, it's good to get you on. You're a working actor.
What a bizarre, strange and totally unscripted moment in the history of the Oscars.

Chapter 3: How did the audience react to Will Smith's actions?
What did you make of it?
It was quite bizarre, wasn't it, really? I mean, I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. I think this is probably, in terms of packing a punch, no pun intended, this is probably up there. I mean, I remember there was a streaker back in the 70s. I think David Niven was presenting an award at the time.
And there was also, a few years ago, I think it was 2017, when Faye Dunaway, I think it was, was given the wrong envelope. backstage and she announced the best picture went to La La Land and then they got halfway through the thanks all the production crew all the crew had got up on stage and they'd announced that it was actually a mistake and it was Moonlight
Yeah, and I'm not making any excuses for Will Smith's behaviour, but you can't help but wonder and think about the times that we are living in, which have been crazy times for the last two-plus years. I also wondered and thought about Ricky Gervais, because as we've seen him hosting the Oscars, the Emmys...
Chapter 4: What comments have been made by celebrities regarding the incident?
I'm sure when he saw it, he'd be saying, bloody hell, probably jumping up and down on his couch because, I mean, he was very lucky that Mel Gibson literally didn't tear him apart.
What about Ricky Gervais? I mean, he presented the Globes several times, the Golden Globes, and look how times have changed. I mean, yeah, Mel Gibson is the one that springs to mind. Johnny Depp was another sort of victim of his humour, shall we call it, And I think Johnny Depp got him back in a program that Gervais did called Life's Too Short with Warwick Davis.
And it was all in kind of jest and good humor. I also remember Paul McCartney. I think he had a pretty painful and financially destructive divorce with Heather Mills. And Gervais had a go at him. So how times have changed. Yes, he was very lucky that Mel Gibson didn't turn on him.
Yeah, and as I mentioned, it's kind of weird just reading some of the comments online when it happened because so many people thought it was fake.
Yes, it was funny sort of looking at the reaction when Smith strutted up on stage and struck Chris Rock. You almost looked at it in disbelief because there was still laughter coming from the audience. Now, I think most of them probably thought it was staged, but it clearly wasn't. I mean, when I first saw it, I thought it was a punch. But the thing that struck me most was Chris Rock.
The sort of consummate professional, he was as solid as a rock. He just stood there and got on with it, didn't quite know what to say.

Chapter 5: What does Will Smith's property portfolio look like?
Chris Rock and Will Smith, it goes back to, I think, the 2016 Oscars, sort of chorus of disapproval from certain actors, sort of protesting against the lack of diversity. And I think Jada Pinkett-Smith, she didn't show up at the Oscars in sort of form of protest. Chris Rock from Memory made a sort of jest at that in his opening speech at that particular Oscars.
So I think this has kind of been bubbling for a little while, so just came to an almighty head.
Great to get your comments, and thanks for coming on to The Real Estate Podcast.
Thanks, Craig.
Well, as mentioned, if you're wondering about Will Smith's property, well, he and his wife, Jada, have an impressive property portfolio with the most expensive property being a 25,000 square foot mansion that sits on 150 acres. It took them seven years to build from 2003 to 2010.
It's got nine bedrooms, an eight-car garage, its own movie theatre, of course, and a private recording studio, and was briefly listed back in 2014 for $42 million. Now, of course, $42 million in property back in 2014 buys a lot more than, say, Seafront in Sydney.

Chapter 6: What unique features does Will Smith's RV motorhome have?
So it was briefly listed, but they took it off the market and they still own that property. And also something I found interesting was Will Smith has this insane RV motorhome, which he uses as his movie trailer when he's making movies. And we've left a link in our show notes for you to have a look at this insane piece of kit. It's worth around $3 million and packs a lot of features.
