So we signed off late Monday night, early Tuesday morning, talking about hope and optimism. And maybe the news won't be as bad as it might have looked for Jackson Dart and the Giants. That was based on what Joe Shane said to an ESPN reporter at the stadium. It was based on Dart's standing on the sideline at one point, apparently trying to get back in the game, refusing to give up his uniform until halftime. And then John Harbaugh's own statements. It seemed this was going to be an MCL. He was going to be able to get back in the not too distant future.

It feels harsh to say it, but after week one and even the start of week two, you thought, okay, there's a chance at least that this is a frisky team, maybe competes for a playoff spot. Maybe they're just competitive and they win seven, eight games, but you know what? You have a new culture in place. But if you zoom out, I'm sure the conversations that the Giants were having in the spring and the summer were, hey, we got to find out what we have in Jackson Dart this season. We have to know by the end of the year, Because his rookie season was kind of noisy. There were some ups there. There were some downs there. You really weren't sure, is this going to be the guy to lead your franchise in the future?
And now you have to wait another year, really, to find that out. So now all of a sudden, the season becomes about, hey, set the culture with John Harbaugh.

And we liked the idea of Jameis until we kind of saw Jameis. And this was, we talked about it a little bit, a different Jameis. This wasn't the reckless gunslinger Jameis who's throwing it around and he'll get you a bunch of touchdowns and some random interceptions there. He's making throws he shouldn't. This is a Jameis who's not hitting targets.
