What insights does Chris Long share about Super Bowl LX?

Sheil Kapadia 0:06
Welcome to the Ringer NFL show. I'm your host, Sheil Kapadia. We got a fun show for you today. A couple of guests here on Radio Row at the Super Bowl. We got Chris Long and then we got Ashton Gentry. I wish I could tell you what we actually talked about, but I'm not sure. It went in 400 different directions, but you know what? They played ball and we had a lot of fun. So I got Billy Gill here with me. Then we'll welcome in Chris Long. Then we'll get to Ashton Gentry. Let's take a break. We'll come right back.
Sheil Kapadia 0:44
All right, we are back here on the Ringer NFL show with Billy Gill and Chris Long, our guest today. Chris, how we doing, my friend?

How does Ashton Jeanty maintain his food regimen as an NFL player?

Sheil Kapadia 0:51
I'm good, bro. How are you? Good. Great to see you. Chris is here on behalf of Subaru, Billy, and I feel like you got the details for that.
Chris Long 0:58
I feel like, yeah, you're here on behalf of Subaru. They're partnering with the ASPCA, adopting some dogs.
Billy Gil 1:04
That's right. We like underdogs, right? Philly adjacent personalities on this pod here. Eight-year anniversary, I think, of us winning that bowl. Somebody texted me this morning. I don't have a calendar. But Subaru loves underdogs. We're going to Muttville later today to play with some dogs.

What unique perspectives do Chris Long and Ashton Jeanty offer on NFL life?

Billy Gil 1:21
And Subaru wants to encourage people to adopt the underdogs, the older dogs that people kind of pass over. I'll be going out there in a Subaru Outback Wilderness, which is tight. I've always wanted to get a Subaru and lift it up and put it on, like, 36-inch tires. You can imagine that. So maybe they'll actually hook me up. They haven't told me if they would or not. Okay. But, yeah, they're working with the SPCA. They love underdogs, and I think it's just a great partnership. Yeah.
Sheil Kapadia 1:45
Now, I was told, Chris, but, you know, I ran into some old Seattle radio friends today. Yeah. And they said, we got to get Chris Long on. He was the first person who adopted the Seahawks this year.

What role does a personal chef play in an NFL player's life?

Chris Long 1:55
Yeah.
Sheil Kapadia 1:55
As, like, a legit Super Bowl contender. Now, Billy's looking a little skeptical.
Chris Long 1:59
Yeah.
Sheil Kapadia 2:00
I picked him to win the West.
Chris Long 2:01
I have a bone to pick with you, no pun intended here.
Billy Gil 2:04
What is it?
Chris Long 2:04
We're here, you know, supporting underdogs.
Billy Gil 2:06
Yeah.
Chris Long 2:06
And you're picking a favorite to win the game.
Billy Gil 2:08
Well, I'm not going to lay the points. That's a lot of points in a game that could be lower total. But I got to stick with my guns, man. I've been picking against the Patriots the whole playoffs. I'm not going to stop now. I just think, like, listen, if you're making the Patriots pick,

How do Chris Long and Ashton Jeanty view gut health and nutrition?

Billy Gil 2:25
It's probably a coach and QB pick. As good as I think McDonald is, having Josh McDaniel, having Mike Vrabel, having people in that organization with Super Bowl experience, because this is a different animal playing in this game. And the quarterback, who I think is legitimately, in my opinion, I would probably give him the MVP if it's a regular season award. I give him the MVP. But I think Seattle's defense and it's not just the pass rush. I think as much as anything, the way they can erase the run phase and kind of play press and get up on these guys and take the receivers away. Drake May loves to play with timing. That's the one thing they've done really well there. They've coached him to play with timing.

What are the benefits of having a personal chef according to Ashton Jeanty?

Billy Gil 3:05
They have the check downs. Their timing is going to be disrupted in this game. The only thing I could see is like New England, as much as they've blitzed and gotten after people, if they can get Sam to do those Sam Darnold kind of things, which he's avoided in the playoffs, then they can win the game.
Sheil Kapadia 3:21
It feels like the Patriots' path is Drake maybe and Superman or Sam Darnold turning it over a couple times. Or the weird special teams miscues, you know? Because you mentioned the Super Bowl is different, right? Like, what advice? You've probably been asked this question. It's probably a terrible question, Billy. You can make fun of me. But if you told these players who were in there for the first time, like, I wish I knew this before the first time I played in a Super Bowl. What are the things that are different?
Billy Gil 3:43
Find your normal as early as you can in the week. It is such a different week. It's a you-know-what show.
