What is the tribute to Neale Daniher about?
This is Triple M's Rush Hour. The Penrite Oil. 100 years still driven.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Ow! I see assholes like you every day. James Brayshaw. Every...
day billy brown was this moron number one all right let's get started put moron number two on the phone that's had enough what the hell is wrong with you two listening to the rush hour Monday, May 25. Fat, we're a bit flat. We're going to tell you why in just a second. But a big show coming up. Damien Barrett in. We're going to chat to him about the news of today and also about the round of footy. Yep. Bragg Artist 5 at 5.05. Cody Waitman's a great chat and we can't wait for him to play footy again. So it's a big show. We're going to get stuck into all of that soon as I say hello to you, my friend William Bragg. Yes, and a bloody sad day, Jimmy Boy, as you said. And we're not going to go with a rappy today, and we won't go to Rabsy at the minute, because we're going to pay respect to the great Neil Danaher, who passed away at home, surrounded by his family today, Jimmy Boy, and the family have put out a statement.
Yes, I have it in my hands. We're heartbroken to share that our much-loved husband, dad and poppy, Neil Danaher, passed away at home, surrounded by his family. I'm reading here, even in the toughest times, he kept pushing forward, determined to land as many blows as he could against his toughest opponent, all with a cheeky grin and a sharp sense of humour that never left him. He loved deeply and was loved just as much in return by his family and friends. We will forever remember him for the lasting impact that he made on us all. He was inspired, he was loved, and he lived. And it would only be fitting to finish with his words, play on.
He is a ripper bloke, Neil Danaher, and he's one of those blokes that you're always delighted to run into.
Up she goes, the gallery. Oh, I've got a 12-a-day stage kick to go. You don't lie down. I'm a fighter. The 2025 Australian of the Year, Neil Danaher.
We all have the power to choose to fight, to choose our attitude, to choose to smile, and to choose to do something differently. Because their mark of a person isn't what they say, it's what they do.
One of the great footballers, one of the great personalities, a fantastic coach. You've united the whole footy world, Daniel.
There will be a time when we won't be having a freeze day. There'll come a day where the AFL says, by the way, we're cancelling the freeze day, Gerard, we've found the cure. It's all over.
You beat it.
My vision is a world without MNDO.
It is a Monday and Damien Barrett is in to chat footy. It's time for Damien Barrett to wrap up the weekend in footy. Bit of news kicking around purple as we welcome you. Hello, Jim. Hello, Bill. There he is. With his positives. We're all positive. That's it. Straight in. 18 winners in the weekend, Bill. And negatives. So, on the vault, Damien.
Damien.
Ah, Purple, we're all mates of Nilo's one way or another and had a lot to do with him over the journey. We all knew today was coming, but it doesn't make it any less sad when it arrives. It never does, Jim, does it? Your emotions and reflections go absolutely everywhere at these moments, don't they? I mean, mine are probably similar to a lot, I reckon, Jim and Bill, and that is the fight that he had and the courage to fight and the... The awareness that he created. The public nature of the fight too, which he didn't have to head down that path, but he did. And the big freeze 12 is on Monday fortnight. So I think we all have got to get behind that and really make it a huge one this time, don't we? And that courage to fight, he just never, ever, ever complained about what he was actually going through.
There's a line from the AFL chief executive, Andrew Dillon, who's just only moments ago released the statement on behalf of the AFL.
What is Damian Barrett's perspective on Neale Daniher's legacy?
And there's one reference in there that I just might read, boys. It's his contribution to the wider Australian life was simply incredible in the way he put himself at the forefront, despite the challenge of his own MND diagnosis to raise awareness of the disease champion fundraising efforts in search for a cure that he knew would likely not help him.
