We have so much to get into today because of course yesterday was the VMAs, so much went down. The girls will be unpacking the highs and lows in this afternoon's show, but I am here to get you up to speed with the biggest headlines.

So to kick things off, Madonna opened the show. I did mention yesterday that this was her first VMA's performance in 23 years. It's also her fifth time opening the show, which sets a VMA's record because she was previously tied for four with Rihanna. She performed with both Sabrina Carpenter, who played the keys for the song Bring Your Love, the song they debuted at Coachella back in April during Sabrina's headline set, and then Charlie XEX, who emerged from a club bathroom set for their reworked version of Dance Terror. The other cameos included Somber, Julia Garner, Julia Fox, for some reason Seth Rogan, Andrew Watt, and Tony Ward.

In her Artist of the Year awards speech, she said that she spent the last year and a half finding herself and really making the music that she wanted and urged other artists to do the same. She also revealed a pretty funny anecdote when she was Accepting her award for her collab with Sabrina Carpenter.
I would like to briefly say how this collaboration came about. Everybody who knows me knows how impatient I am. And when five days passed and I still didn't get connected with Sabrina and didn't hear back from her about whether she wanted to do a song with me. Five days I DMed her. Yeah. And This is a true story. She answered me back and w I don't know, within weeks we were in the studio together. It was fabulous.
