What are the hosts' birthday, mic, and Shabbat updates at the top of the episode?

Claudia Oshry 0:03
Good morning, girlies, it's the toast. It's Jackson, Claude, and we're your host. It's your favorite show, the fast five things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly. It's The Toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to The Toast. Happy Friday. Happy birthday, Kojerna Fred. However, I don't have Frederick sitting next to me today. I have Buon Gelish Soffer.
Ben Soffer 0:38
Yes. Shabbat Shalom to the beautiful toasters. I'm already being told to bring in my mic, even though it was literally so unbelievably in.
Claudia Oshry 0:46
It was so not in. And I'm not even the mic police.
Ben Soffer 0:50
It was so in, but now it's going to be really... These are new mics. They're beautiful mics.
Claudia Oshry 0:53
And we've been having mic drama.
Ben Soffer 0:55
They're beautiful mics.
Claudia Oshry 0:57
They are beautiful, but you do have to stay close to them. I know Claudia's not here to tell you. Maybe closer?
Ben Soffer 1:02
Okay, okay.
Claudia Oshry 1:03
Maybe closer.
Ben Soffer 1:04
Shabbat shalom to all of the tostadas. This is Fiesta Week on Fork of July, so I am able to say hello to the tostadas. And yes, happy birthday to my beautiful, sickly wife, Claudia, who... It's not feeling well. Just wasn't feeling too hot this morning.
Claudia Oshry 1:20
I mean, you guys saw she was fighting it. She was up and down. And today she was down, too down to toast. And it's her birthday.
Ben Soffer 1:28
I was going to say, like birthdays used to be like in corporate America. It used to be it's your birthday. You take it off.
Claudia Oshry 1:32
Yeah.
Ben Soffer 1:33
You should take off on your birthday.
Claudia Oshry 1:35
Yeah. Sometimes we used to do that. We used to take off more. And now we're just like worker bees. Yeah.
Ben Soffer 1:40
You work hard.
Claudia Oshry 1:41
We're work horses.
Ben Soffer 1:42
I mean, it's important because when you like don't do the show, then they don't get the show.
Claudia Oshry 1:45
right right and we like doing the show you know it's not like corporate America it's like I don't want to go to work it's like oh I want to go swirl it up with my sister and then have a go for a fun great birthday like exactly and I know she would love to be doing that today like that's her dream day like swirlitude working hard and then like going and having a pargy lunch and we're not gonna do any of that no you know I mean I'm gonna swirl it up with you but like we're gonna swirl it up she's still not gonna go to lunch like that's how poorly she's feeling she's not gonna go to lunch but there is a brisket in the oven Well, the dinner plans do work for a sick girl, which is she wanted a pargy Shabbat.
Ben Soffer 2:18
She did.
Claudia Oshry 2:19
You're making a brisket.
Ben Soffer 2:20
I am.
Claudia Oshry 2:21
And you started that this morning. So, like, we have our dinner plans. Well, obviously, she's not going to listen to this. Obviously, get a cake.
Ben Soffer 2:27
Yeah. Well, she'll listen to it. But, like, I don't think that, like. I mean, duh.
Claudia Oshry 2:31
That's not a surprise you have a cake on your birthday.
Ben Soffer 2:33
I love that you bring this up. Like, this whole idea, we're at a restaurant, okay? It's me and you.
Claudia Oshry 2:37
Why do I have to, like, go to the bathroom?
Ben Soffer 2:39
Why do I have to secretly pretend that I'm going to the bathroom to tell a waitress, what kind of song and dance is this? Why can't I just say to the waitress, who's right here, can you please bring me a slice of cake for my beautiful wife who's sitting over here?
Claudia Oshry 2:51
Yeah, more than that, I feel like when you check in or you sit down, they're like, are we celebrating anything? Or even if they don't ask, because you don't have to ask every time, the other person can be like, we're celebrating this person's birthday. And then it's just like, known?
Ben Soffer 3:03
Known.
Claudia Oshry 3:03
Bring us a cake. I don't want to have to be running Mission Impossible to the bathroom to try and find the waiter or waitress and let them know we need a cake.
Ben Soffer 3:11
It's so stupid.
Claudia Oshry 3:12
But if we sat down and we told you we're celebrating or we booked it and we said we have a birthday, or you see us doing presents, just bring the cake, please.
Ben Soffer 3:20
Also, now that, like, whenever a restaurant asks if I'm celebrating anything, I say yes no matter what. Because then I think to myself, what are you going to do better for me now that I've told you that I'm celebrating something? And how bad would my meal have been? Were you going to stick me in the toilet if I didn't tell you that I was celebrating?
Claudia Oshry 3:34
Oh, no, I don't think that.
