Just smiling. Just waking up with a smile on my face. How good was it? What a performance from the Blues. You know, to go up there... And win another decider. Before, what was it, two years ago? We couldn't do it. We couldn't do it at all. There was two in the history. So to do two in three years, commend the players that went out there, the attitude, the commitment, the fight for their coach. It was awesome.
Yeah, it was never in doubt. I was always very, very confident last week, I remember. Same, same. I was just really confident telling the kids at home, boys, we're going to win. They said, bullshit, Dad, you don't know anything. I said, no, no, I'm serious. We'll win. We'll win this. The bounce of the ball goes our way. We play for the full 80 minutes. We'll win this. It was a good team selection. I thought the side itself was a little bit more probably stable. I thought Mitch Moses' kicking game, particularly in that opening 10 minutes when we're under the pump a little bit, I think that's what saved us a bit in that opening minutes of the game. But across the board, everyone played well. As I said, we got lucky in an instance.
But in saying that, we were the better side the whole game, I thought. In reality, last week I said they had no hope. Oh, did you? Really? Yeah, I did. I was confident. I know you were. You looked me in the eye. I said it. You believed it. Danny Wiley, you were, of course, involved. You were at the Camp Blue.
Were you confident as they went off on the bus? I had hope. I thought the last camp was their best. It was a totally different feeling in Camp 3. Laurie Daly was much more relaxed. They seemed to really enjoy Kingscliff. And I wasn't saying I was confident, but I had hope. And, you know, I noticed a big change in Laurie's demeanour. And, look, let's be frank, Laurie Daly out-selected and out-coached Billy Slater in the last game. Simple as that. That's what it comes down to. There were some very brave selections, if you want to go through them, sticking with Mitchell Moses.
I could have gone Ethan Strange, particularly after Mitch's performance in his milestone game where he had a shocker.
It was brave to stick with him. Brave to go with Reece Robson. Everyone wanted Reece Robson out of the side. I don't know anybody who wasn't saying Cameron Murray should be starting lock. Yep. They didn't listen.
