What is the premise of this episode and who are the hosts?
Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor, manténganse alejado de las fuerzas.
Oh.
What do you want?
Hey everybody, welcome to Unlocking the Magic. You're listening to episode number five forty-six. Today we're talking fun facts, behind the scenes stories from Spider-Man Trilogy.
All right, what's up everybody? Welcome back to the podcast.
Welcome. We're gonna talk all about Spider-Man, but we are not gonna talk about the newer movie, Brand New Day, until the very end of the podcast episode. And we'll give you a heads up when we get into it so that if you haven't yet seen it, by the way, what are you waiting for? Cause oh my goodness, it's so good. But we don't want to s give you any spoilers.
It's been out for a week now, right? It came out last week.
It's been a week. I think it takes people some time. Although the box office numbers are really high, so a lot of you have seen it. But yeah, it takes, you know, couple couple of weeks for I think people to to visit. I don't think this one, there might be people like waiting for the hype to go down maybe or it's maybe difficult to find a seat in the theater. Maybe that's holding people back.
It's been pretty busy at the movie theater between Spider Man obviously coming out uh and then the Odyssey a couple of weeks before. I've never seen like we go to the movies a lot. We love the movies. I've never seen the movie theater so busy, which is an amazing thing because I love going to see movies and there's been a lack of good movies over the last, I'd say, year.
Well, th th it's funny that you say that because the internet's kind of exploding with things I've said a long for a long time. It's just It pe people during Covid too, it kinda you kinda got used to being at home, being in your comfy clothes and just kind of streaming whatever movie you want to watch. But there's really nothing better. than going to see a film. But the problem is with the writer's strike and so many things happen, it was kind of difficult to see anything come out that was probably worth people's time and effort. We just saw Supergirl and that was one of those movies where we didn't really want to go see initially, but we gave it a chance because we we just go to the movies. Like that's something that
You and I have always done since we were really young. It's been our date night kind of thing, like you and I don't really go out to eat. But we do a movie.
Right.
I mean but I mean that was pretty decent.
It was I mean Listen, it was better than what they said on the internet. Sometimes you get sucked into this internet rabbit hole where you listen to people online too much. And you have to think about kinda like what we talk about when you go to the parks or a theme park. You do your thing. Like you could take advice from people and hear things, but do your thing. So give movies a chance, I think.
Yeah, but where are they advertis like I don't think the trailer for Supergirl, for example like, don't get me wrong, like keep your expectations low and they may be exceeded. And that's the kind of movie it is. But I mean, I definitely thought it was worth the movie ticket price in the theater. And it was a fun movie, but I think like even the trailer for that I just didn't It was it it didn't sell me. We just happened to go 'cause it was a discounted night at the theater and we're like, Hey, it's movie night. you know, here in the Irving household gonna get together and go and this one happened to be playing.
Yeah, maybe that's it. I don't know if people knew the story. I certainly didn't of Supergirl. I'm not a s uh I didn't read the comic books, so I don't know the story or the back line. Maybe that's they could have done a better job with that. But I also think that maybe the budget wasn't that high for marketing and that's a huge part of the budget that they have to make these movies is marketing. And if they don't have the marketing budget, then nobody really knows that the movie's in existence. Yeah, that's true which is sad because you then you only rely on what you see online and then sometimes it could be negative because negative s tends to do better on social.
