As we all know, the world of search is rapidly evolving. The pace of change is increasing every day. And the obvious question or challenge is how do we update our strategies and tactics? However, to me, the real challenge is not what do we need to do to change in our strategies, but more of how do we mobilize these changes within our organizations to bring them to life. The most prevalent example is at the enterprise level. Complexity of websites, the volume of stakeholders, and all these elements just amplify the challenges that we're faced with. And sometimes making changes to the strategy can feel like shifting or trying to change directions of a fate liner. This is the Voice of Search Podcast. My name's Tyson, and joining us today is Jason Lacks, technical SEO expert at SAP.

SAP helps businesses transform. Through innovative technology solutions. Today, Jason will share his perspective and his experience in SEO strategy and how he's dealing with shifting this or changing it within the enterprise and corporate environment. With that, Jason, welcome to the podcast.

I love the topic here because I think as SEOs, we oftentimes like just gravitate into like these technical and like tactical changes. And it's like a lot of the things that we like talking to each other. But I feel like at the end of the day, like some of the most valuable can be like, well, how do we actually bring this to life within an organization? And especially When we're working within a large global enterprise organization, the complexities just balloon out from it. So maybe to kind of like start us off, like I'm sure most all the listeners are familiar with SAP, but maybe you could kind of just paint the picture a little bit better on like the magnitude of the business and kind of like the world that you've been operating in.

Uh but we the the company is is fifty years old and uh you mentioned Freightliner before in the intro. I think it's sometimes more like the Titanic, but it it's big. Over a hundred thousand employees, hundred and twenty countries, uh very large websites, a lot of people searching, not just to learn about us, but also how to use our software and um evolve and so on. So uh a lot of different types of personas uh a lot of content to deal with uh indexing crawl budgets. Uh but it's also very exciting, being at a place where you can try things uh and see immediate impacts compared to other places. Uh we've also got the authority of course to um working in our favor. And then there's really interesting projects like migrations and uh big technical changes and then when there's something transformative like we're going through right now with AI.
Jason Lax 3:32
Uh which I like to compare to, well, maybe to some extent the changes with mobile ten years ago. It's very impactful. And at the same time, we're also a technology company. So we've also got the av the advantage of people having, you know, some inkling or understanding of what's going on because you know, whatever happens in B to C, which is search, you know, we we use search as consumers, eventually the there's expectations for for that to be in our software, but also from B to B where we operate.
Tyson Stockton 3:59
Interesting. And maybe to a bit more on how you're viewing these changes and shifts in it. And you m you made reference to kind of what we went through years back with kind of like the shift with like mobile first.
