Oh, thanks so much for having me. I'm super pumped to be here and and what a fun topic, right?
Right. Absolutely. So we were both at Brighton last year, San Diego. And I actually think maybe I'm wrong, but I think that's where I first met you in real life.
Yes, that was our first in real life, you know, meetup. It was um me and a couple others as well. Um, it wasn't my first Brain SEO though. I did speak in the UK. Okay. Um, I think as far back as many twenty nineteen, I think was when I first got introduced to uh the conference.
Awesome. So as a fellow North American, you have some good Brighton experience, which is awesome. Uh and you've you ventured on both sides of the pond to to attend Brighton, which is great. And may may maybe that becomes part of this episode. Maybe you share with people what the value of something like Brighton is. But Before we get into that, can can you tell us a little bit about yourself, your background into getting into SEO? And then we can talk a little bit about Schema app as well.
Sure. I actually have a hilarious Brighton story. Let's start there then. I don't know. Let's
start there. Let's go. Yeah.
Let's start there. All right. So I I was speaking for the first time in the UK and I was I was I was talking about knowledge graphs. I was actually talking about the Queen's knowledge graph, um, which was kind of funny. It was my way of like making it real. But we're at the like first party on the first night, and I have a thing where I just try to meet as many people as possible. It's just, you know, it's fun. So I meet this gentleman, he's like, I'm new to SEO. And uh I was like, Oh, where's your accent from? And he's like, Oh, I'm I'm from Scotland. And I was like, Oh, whereabouts in Scotland? And he's like, Oh, near Inverness. And I happened to have gone to university in Scotland and lived in Glasgow and
I was like, Oh, like well, where do you work? And he's like, Well, I work at a shoe store. Now fun fact. My dad's My cousin's son runs a shoe store chain in the north of Scotland. And so I was like, Oh, what's the shoe store name? And he's like, Beg shoes. And I looked at him and I said, Is your father's name Garrick? And he goes, Yes. And he's like giving me this like funny look. And I said, Well, what if I were to tell you that my son is named after your father? And the guy was like, What is going on here? It turns out like he is like my, you know, third cousin twice removed or whatever that is. And truly my son, Garrick, is named after his father, who Because my median name is Gary Ock, and that's this and and and I actually know his grandparents really, really well because those are my dad's cousins and had spent a lot of time.
So he had never been to like he had just started an SEO and I was like, Well, you're gonna be my buddy this week. And of course I then was like, Well, let's meet all the speakers because those are the like those are my friends at the conference.
