No, yesterday we were kinda you know, dipping the toe in the water on this topic. And you were talking about kind of the importance and some of the strategies that you take in developing SEOs that are kind of ready to make that jump to be in a more kind of strategic role. And we kind of left off where you're talking about kind of different areas where you were giving, you know, the SEOs the opportunities to get these first kind of reps into like building strategies, their communication skills. Maybe if we can just kind of revisit that a little bit. And if you could share with the listeners a bit more on kind of like what does that look like in the form of how you kind of set that up for the individuals and how do you prepare them for that?
Emily Wassell 2:15
Yeah, it's a great question. So we as an agency really focus on developing talent through their careers and really supporting that transition. From my perspective, SEOs often have very big focus on developing their technical skills. So trying to cover off as much about technical SEO, content, links, all of the the elements of SEO. But often that is where the training stops and people can feel a little bit stuck at that point. So within the team that I have, we are very focused on the transition to the next level. So from being very good at implementation, to actually being more strategic um and more managerial. So we are often at that point building people career plans that are more focused on the soft skills of leadership than they are on the technical skills of SEO.
Emily Wassell 3:09
So it could be communication. And we have pieces on, you know, communication styles, how you talk to different clients. Whether the client is very detail-oriented or very relationship-oriented in terms of, you know, they like that personal element, or whether they are. As often business leaders are very much, you know, a red person where they want their communications direct and clear and they just want the highlights and they don't want the tables of data. So adjusting the way that you talk to people depending on their communication style. So um we actually focus more on the soft skills in terms of your positioning, of your communications, of your building relationships and building rapport. And I feel like that is often the missing piece when SEOs within their career are getting that feedback to say, you know, for the next level you'd need to be more strategic.
Emily Wassell 3:59
I think that is what business leaders are often trying to say. It's less about what you say and more about how you say it.
Tyson Stockton 4:07
Couldn't agree more to that point. And I feel, you know, as a SEO community, we talk so much about the tactics. And before we started recording, we were talking about it how we both really respect and like the fact that it's like within SEO, people are open.
