Next one is gonna be a toss-up.

How does Daniel Horowitz explain the role of existing authority for mature enterprise sites?

Tyson Stockton 0:45
So if constrained, would you invest SEO resources more in building comprehensive content or in acquiring high quality backlinks?
Daniel Horowitz 0:55
Um, I'm gonna say like anything at SEO, it depends. It depends on where you're at. You know, for at the enterprise level, it's gonna be content, right? Because we already have existing authority, you know, we have digital PR efforts that are happening already that aren't necessarily done from like a link building perspective, but you know, nevertheless are building our authority. But because we're a thirty year old website, you know, we already have a lot of authority. So So, you know, if we're doing link building, it's usually like internal links, as I've kind of been harping on, as opposed to, you know, not that we don't, we do some level of like tactical level link building, of course, but I wouldn't say it's like the main focus.
Daniel Horowitz 1:33
But if you're just starting out, if you have a website that has, you know, no references or mentions online, like of course you have to build that. You know, you're not going to just rank with content, you're going to need some level of background.

Why does the guest recommend a hybrid approach of content creation and internal linking for most businesses?

Daniel Horowitz 1:45
points as well. So in that sense, I would say At the minimum a hybrid approach.
Tyson Stockton 1:51
Absolutely. And I always kind of describe it to people as like that content or like that piece, like that's your your footprint, your foundation. And if you're just doing linking on its own, it's like, okay, well, you're uplifting like certain pages or key pages that are more important to you. So it's like if you don't have that destination to point towards you know, it's you're gonna have limited impact. So I also like to say, like if you're starting from a you know, bare bones system, start with your content and then layer on the internal links as well as external, depending on again, business size, are you naturally attracting those or is it something that, you know, you'd need to be make more of an active effort on?
Daniel Horowitz 2:36
Absolutely.

When is pure link‑building the most effective strategy for small or micro‑SaaS companies?

Daniel Horowitz 2:37
Yeah. I would say the one exception where I've seen, you know, I actually used to run a link building department and agency. So I I know a lot about the other side of things. So I would say the big exception is when you're like kind of like a micro SaaS and you're kind of starting out and you have like these product level pages that are only competing, you know, and like a really neat, like you're not competing against, you know, any enterprise players. You're just competing against other small small companies, then yeah, link building can definitely be the competitive advantage there.
Tyson Stockton 3:06
Yeah, a little little extra juice to to get things moving. Exactly. Yeah. Well, with that, that's gonna wrap up this episode of the Voice of Search Podcast.
