What is the core debate about measuring AI overviews versus traditional organic rankings?

Jordan Cooney 0:43
Hoss up. Should we be measuring AI overviews in AI mode or maintaining traditional organic rankings as a set of KPIs for SEOs? Can
Kevin Indig 0:55
I say both?
Jordan Cooney 0:58
Not allowed.
Kevin Indig 1:01
Okay, not a toss up. Okay.
Jordan Cooney 1:02
That's
Kevin Indig 1:03
fine. If I had to choose, I would say probably uh you know measuring AI mode and AI overviews. I really think that's where the game is going. Okay. And I also like to still look at keyword ranks because it is a directional signal for how visible you might be in any AI surface, right? So for example. Bing uh keyword ranks, it's like no nobody's tracking those.

Why does Kevin Indig recommend tracking position‑one visibility for AI overview inclusion?

Kevin Indig 1:28
I think they're now incredibly valuable because ChatGPT grounds their answers on Bing search results. And so, you know, to some degree they matter still, but not as a goal and much more as like a directional signal.
Jordan Cooney 1:39
I want to remind listeners, you gave some amazing advice earlier about looking at position one and the the visibility or or the impressions of position one because position one is such an influence to AI overviews and AI mode. I I couldn't agree more with you. I think that's like it's it's it's a clear signal that Google wants and is eating up what you're providing and and they're gonna use that to train their their their responses. So it's such a critical component to be measuring this, not only your position one, but then how that influences AI overviews and AI mode.

Time for a one-minute break to hear from our sponsor, Previsible. So you're looking for SEO help, then you got a couple of options.

How can keyword rankings still serve as a directional signal in AI mode?

Unknown 2:17
You could start replying to spam from agencies that claim they can get you to rank number one on Google. You can pay an hourly rate for a consultant who will inevitably nickel and dime you with hourly charges, or you can work with a cookie cutter agency to quickly launch a strategy-less project with low success rate. None of those sound very good. Now do they? Well, that's where Previsible's integrated consulting model comes in. Previsible draws from a collective 40 years of SEO and digital marketing experience to unlock your organic growth opportunities.

What role do Bing keyword ranks play in ChatGPT’s answers and why are they valuable now?

Unknown 2:47
They build custom solutions that combine strategy, technical expertise, content, and reporting to effectively operationalize SEO for your business. Pre-Visible's four-stage approach ensures that your SEO programs thrive. By starting off with a strategy first approach. Then they support you in your efforts to create quality content, help you identify technical issues, and most importantly, they'll work with your cross-functional teams to integrate your SEO strategies to make sure that your SEO budget actually drives results, not just your agency's bottom line. So join brands like Yelp, eBay, Canva, Atlassian, Square, all who rely on the SEO consultants. At Previsible. For more information, go to previsible.io.
