SEOs. My name is Jordan Cooney from Previsible. And this week we're going to be discussing SEO strategies in a changing macro environment from the perspective of a Fortune 500 SEO. Joining me is Jason Reed, an SEO and location management specialist at Quest Diagnostics. Delivering from the world's largest database of clinical lab results, Quest Diagnostics Insights reveal new avenues to identify and treat diseases, inspire healthy behaviors, and improve healthcare management. Quest annually serves one in three adult Americans and half the physicians in hospitals in the United States.
How does Jason describe the staffing shortage for SEO in a Fortune 500 company?
Today, Jason and I are going to discuss unique challenges of being a Fortune 500 SEO. Okay, here's my conversation with Jason Reed, the SEO and Location Management Specialist at Quest Diagnostic. Jason, welcome to the Voice to Search Podcast. Hey Jordan, thanks for having me. Happy to be
here.
Yeah, looking forward to our conversation. It's always a real pleasure to have enterprise SEOs. Having spent almost a half decade at eBay myself, it's a pleasure to be with a fellow enterprise SEO and someone who can deal with some of these complex situations. So tell us a little bit about Quest Diagnostics and your role there before we jump into this topic today.
Sure. So Quest Diagnostics, I imagine a lot of your listeners will have heard of us. We are one of the primary lab companies in the US. Like you hit on in the intro, we annually serve roughly one in three US Americans, about fifty percent of physicians throughout the US, and we have access to about ninety percent of insured lives. Quests Really great company to work for, huge enterprise, obviously, and with that comes some unique challenges and benefits from an SEO perspective.
That's awesome. And what a unique opportunity, right? I mean, this is a company that impacts many, many lives, and there's probably a variety of reasons why these consumers and users of your services would want to search for information on Google. So, you know, as we dive into this topic about unique challenges in enterprise SEO, maybe lay the groundwork for us. What are some of the main challenges and what are some of the ones that you find to be unique to the enterprise level.
Yeah, so I used to work on a much smaller marketing team in a previous role. So coming from a smaller company into a a Fortune 500 company like Quest Diagnostics, the couple unique challenges that come to mind. The first one is there's never enough staff for SEO, right? Obviously there's gonna be different levels of SEO maturity across some of these large enterprise corporations, but for the most part Part, I don't think that a lot of these companies have the optimal amount of SEO staff. So for example, I'm a team of one within a marketing team of I want to say roughly a hundred people in a company of roughly 50,000 people, right? And so when you work for a large matrix organization like Quest Diagnostics, that comes with a couple different challenges.
