How easy is it to get knocked off track? And what can you do about it? Hi, I'm Dave. Welcome to Walking is Fitness, a daily 10-minute podcast designed to provide you with a little added motivation and encouragement to get out, take the walk, and keep going to build a life-lasting, life-changing walking habit. Today's 10-minute walk starts right after After this. I am on my back porch with a box I just got from Topo Athletic. These contain my new shoes, the ST6, these are Minimal shoes, wide toe box, all the topo athletic shoes come with a wide toe box. My shoes have a zero drop. This part of a journey I've been on to make my feet stronger, to move towards a more minimal shoe. With Topo Athletic, they've got shoes for every need, minimal shoes, maximal cushion.
They've got road shoes, trail shoes, recovery shoes, race shoes. All right, let's open the box and there's a box inside the box and these are nice looking and very light very light Let's pull the inserts out, try them on. Boy, I can feel the difference the wide toe box makes instantly. By the way, Topo Athletic, brand new sponsor of Walking is Fitness. You can check them out. Again, TopoAthletic.com. You can do your shopping online. You can also see where you can pick up Topo shoes at a retailer near you. All right, leaving the back porch. Walking in and yeah, this wide toe box makes a huge difference. So I'm gonna be wearing these and I'll give you an update shortly. Teresa in Ohio writes Yay for me, yea for all of us. I just colored in my thirtieth shoe print, and I have to say it feels good to have walked every day this month. A newly retired and an avid knitter was I was spending so much time sitting when I first retired that that I developed sciatica.
What new Topo Athletic shoes does Dave unbox and why does the wide toe box matter?
The pain made me decide I'd better get up and move. That was the beginning of May this year. I decided to break my walking into three sessions during the day and in the beginning I stayed fairly motivated and But the first of June I decided I needed some extra motivation, so I Googled walking podcasts. And found you and the thirty day challenge. Your challenge has provided a focus to get me going on my first session of the day, but it's the podcast that I appreciate the most. It feels like I have a friend waiting to walk with me who gives me gentle encouragement and shines a positive light on this thing I need to do to care for myself. And The pain I was experiencing to has subsided. It's wonderful to be knitting without pain while at the same time doing something good for myself.
I'm grateful that I found you in Walking is Fitness. Oh. And I just downloaded another 30 day tracker and I'm looking forward to coloring in more shoe prints. All my best Teresa. In Ohio. Teresa, congratulations. Thank you. Thanks for the encouragement. Thanks for that wonderful story. I th one thing I wanna kinda focus on real quick. Teresa Googled Walking Podcast and up came Walking is Fitness. And I've mentioned this before. And I don't know if this mattered to Teresa or not, but it does matter to some. That when they are looking for a podcast, a walking podcast, and they find Walking is Fitness, before they jump in and start listening, they check how many five-star ratings does it have? The more the better.
It means a lot of people have been listening. and you read some of the reviews. Are the reviews good? Are the reviews recent? Meaning is this podcast still delivering the goods? So here's a request I have for you. If you're listening, particularly an Apple Podcast, would you go to the walking as fitness page in Apple? Scroll down, you'll see five stars, outlines of stars. Tap the star furthest to the right. You have just left a five star rating. And if you would consider leaving a review, the most recent review is I think two months ago. So a couple of newer reviews would be greatly appreciated. It can be a long review, it could be a short review, just something that explains how the podcast is bringing you value.
So yesterday I mentioned Jackie, read her email, and there was something in the email that I wanted to circle back and talk about today, which is what we're gonna do now.
