What is the purpose of the 30‑Day Walking Challenge and how can listeners join?
We're going negative. Hi, I'm Dave. Welcome to Walking Is Fitness, a daily 10 minute podcast designed to provide you with a little added encouragement to get out, take the walk, and even more importantly, to keep going to build a life-changing walking habit. Today's ten minute walk starts right after this. I am on my back porch with a box I just got from Topo Athletic. These contain my new shoes. The ST6, these are minimal shoes. Wide toe box, all the Topo Athletic shoes come with a wide toe box. My shoes have a zero drop. This is part of a journey I've been on to make my feet stronger, to move towards a more minimal shoe. With Topo Athletic, they've got shoes for every need, minimal shoes, maximal cushion.
They've got road shoes, trail shoes. Recovery shoes, race shoes. Alright, let's open the box. And there's a box inside the box. And these are nice looking. and very light, very light. Let's pull the inserts out, try them on. Boy, I can feel the difference the wide toe box makes instantly. By the way, Topo Athletic, brand new sponsor of Walking is Fitness.
Why does the host recommend the new Topo Athletic ST6 minimal shoes for walking?
You can check them out. Again, Topoathletic.com. You can do your shopping online. You can also see where you can pick up Topo shoes at a retailer near you. Alright, leaving the back porch. Walking in and yeah, this wide toe box makes a huge difference. So I'm gonna be wearing these and I'll give you an update shortly. In the meantime, check them out, Topo Athletic, T-O-P-O, Topoathletic.com. We're just three days away from day one of the thirty day walking challenge. It'll span the entire month of June. Starts Monday, June first, goes until whatever the last day of June is, June thirtieth. So that would be I'm gonna guess a Wednesday. Not looking at a calendar. Might be right, might be wrong. You're invited to take part in this thirty day walking challenge.
Make a commitment to walk ten minutes every day. It's number one. Number two, listen to the podcast every day for encouragement to keep going. And number three, download your 30-day fitness chain tracker to keep track of your progress. That provides motivation to keep going on those days when you don't feel like it because you don't want to break the chain. By the way, the 30-day fitness chain tracker has been newly redesigned. So even if you've had a copy of the 30-day fitness chain tracker in the past, it has changed, and I'd love for you. To see the new one. Anyhow, there's a link in the show notes to download your 30-day fitness chain tracker. We're going to get started on Monday. So I love the comments to the Walkingness Fitness YouTube videos.
99.9% of them are positive, they're encouraging, but occasionally a negative comment pops up. Some of them have been very entertaining. My favorite negative comment, this was maybe a year ago. The video I forget what the topic was, but the video itself was maybe seven, eight minutes long and someone in the comments simply wrote, You talk too much. Like, okay. So I got another negative comment last week to the video Five Things They Didn't Tell You About 10,000 Steps. Really, the video was all about putting 10,000 steps in context. Because it's a hard thing to do, to walk 10,000 steps every day. And a lot of people simply give up because it's so hard. And I've tried to put it in context and really ultimately encourage the viewers to
To just start walking. 10,000 steps isn't the end all be all. And I put it in context and really encourage the viewers to set that goal aside and just start walking. Well, here's the comment that is probably my second favorite negative comment. I don't know this person's name. You probably failed in many other things, judging on your negative attitudes. Attitudes. Okay. So I'm going to lean into this comment. I'm going to lean into what this person has to say and go full on negative in today's episode. And for me, one of the most negative things that I can deal with is regret. And so what I want to talk about are my five biggest walking regrets. And let's see. Num number one is actually Number one. So let's go in reverse order.
