What is the biggest reason people quit their fitness goals?

Dave Paul 0:03
Today I'm gonna talk about what I believe is the biggest reason why people give up. Hi, I'm Dave. Welcome to Walking is Fitness, a daily 10-minute podcast designed to provide you with a little added motivation to get out the door, take the walk, and more importantly, to keep going, to not give up, to build a life-changing walking habit. Today's 10-minute walk starts right after this. I am on my back porch with a box I just got from Topo Athletic. These contain my new shoes. The ST6, these are minimal shoes. Wide toe box, all the Topo Athletic shoes come with a wide toe box. My shoes have a zero drop. This part of a journey I've been on to make my feet stronger, to move towards a more minimal shoe. With Topo Athletic, they've got shoes for every need: minimal shoes, maximal cushion.

They've got road shoes, trail shoes, recovery shoes, race shoes. All right, let's open the box and there's a box inside the box and these are nice looking and very light very light Pull the inserts out. Try them on. Boy, I can feel the difference the wide toe box makes instantly. By the way, Topo Athletic, brand new sponsor of Walking is Fitness. You can check them out. Again, TopoAthletic.com. You can do your shopping online. You can also see where you can pick up Topo shoes at a retailer near you. Alright, leaving the back porch. Day 13 of the 30-day walking challenge.

How do new Topo Athletic shoes illustrate the importance of proper gear?

Dave Paul 1:51
Yesterday was a big day for Georgia, who is doing the 30-day challenge. Georgia sent me an email. It's been a few days. And I love Georgia's creativity. I love how Georgia is making this 30-day challenge her own, uniquely hers. So here's what Georgia wrote in the email. Hi Dave, I'm doing the 30-day challenge. I've completed nine days. That's when she sent the email. I've completed nine days, but I have yet to color in a shoe print. I bought a pack of twelve colored pencils and for an extra push I decided to color in twelve shoe prints, each a different color, each time I've completed twelve days of walking. So that would have been yesterday. Twelve days. So Georgia. got out her twelve colored pencils, sharpened them, and each shoe print is a different color.

I imagine that Georgia's thirty day fitness chain tracker looks amazing. But that's not all that Georgia's doing. She says on days 13 through 24, so starting today through the 24th, Georgia's adding an extra five minutes to her 10-minute walk. And then on days 25 through 30, an extra 10 minutes. Georgia says, Can you say overachiever? I love this. And Georgia says, I'm loving the challenge and look forward. to each day. And again, I love how Georgia is taking this 30-day walking challenge and making it uniquely hers. Understanding what motivates her, coloring in 12 shoe prints at a time, each one a different color. And then adding to the challenge, building that momentum. So when Georgia reaches the end of the thirty days, her momentum is gonna be even stronger.

Crafty Hobbit, this is someone on YouTube, don't know their real name, but they left this comment to the 30-day walking challenge video. Crafty Hobbit said, I've never found these 10-minute-a-day exercises useful. Not because I don't have the time to do it or can't do them, but because I never see any measurable results from it. I have a dog, so walking her means That I walk most days, but I still have issues with my weight, never drops, and I still have problems with my joints. By the way, thank you for listening to this podcast. I've mentioned this before that you have a lot of choices, a lot of podcasts that you can choose from. Do you know exactly how many? You could choose from Don't expect that you have counted.
Dave Paul 4:40
It would be an impossible task. In fact, even the experts aren't sure exactly how many podcasts are available. Some say it could be as many as three and a half million, some say it's four and a half million. That's a lot of podcasts that you could choose from.
