Thank you for being here. I'm Tim Sargent with the Fairfax County Planning Commission. I'm the chair of uh the Capital Improvement Program Committee. And if I can ask my colleagues to introduce each other.

Okay, good evening. Um just wanted to let everyone know that this is my last year um working on the CIP because I'll be retiring. So we have several staff here as we're transitioning um my duties. Um so let me just start over here. Um we have Martha Sansaver and Roshalio from DPWES. Um and you know Mo from um Uh, planning and development, and of course Christina Jackson, our CFO. Joe LaHate, our deputy director of the budget office. And then Mark Thomas will be um filling my shoes next year. So he will be taking over my duties on the CIP. And then you probably remember A Amy Simon, who's worked with me on the CIP for several years now.

That's great. Well A as one who you trained from the beginning, I I can't tell you how much I've appreciated all of your your help and support and encouragement along the way. And uh it's it's a wonderful a wonderful way to end. We're gonna miss you very much. But we'll get to that later.

Um we're going to delve into the uh there's the As the uh agenda indicates, we're going to have an overview of fiscal years twenty twenty-seven to twenty thirty one is the advertised capital improvement program. Um much appreciated that we're gonna get a review from uh Martha Reid and this and all of you and I think we've got everybody covered here. So Uh We need we miss somebody else or

Just gonna pull up the presentation, but um I thought what I would do tonight is just give you a preview of um this year's capital improvement program um in advance of our workshop next week.

There we go. Um so just a a little recap of how our CIP calendar works. Um we start working with agencies in the fall. Um they are reviewing their capital programs, telling us about any issues or changes in their projects, and then they come in and meet with us and the county executive and deputies, go over those programs with us. We do an analysis looking at what we can do, what we can afford to do, what we may not be able to afford to do, and then we make recommendations to the county executive in the December timeframe. And then it all comes together in February and we advertise the CIP at the same day as the budget. And now we're in the period um between um now and April when we'll be um meeting with you all, meeting with the board of supervisors.

We have several public hearings on the CIP and then the CIP will be adopted this year at the end of April. Um the CIP uh totals 15.9 billion, and that includes um some outside agencies like Nova Parks and the Water Authority, but mostly it's centered around um our county managed programs, some of which are developed through the budget process, like our self-supporting funds, the wastewater stormwater funds.
