All right, it is seven thirty and we're going to call this uh meeting to order to start out with. This is the land use process review committee. Uh our chair, Candace Bennett, is uh out tonight, so I'll be taking her place as vice chair. Um so we have a a a pretty full agenda and I just wanted to before I start with the minutes and the zoning ordinance work program. Just let everybody know that first we're gonna going to go through the zoning ordinance work program and let uh staff tell us completely about that. And then we'll take questions and if everyone would just limit themselves to one question to start out with and we can go to multiple questions once everyone has had a chance to ask something.
Um and then I want to save um about ten minutes at the end just to get a sense of the committee as to whether we uh sort of endorse or um you know agree with the work program as a committee. Uh and then we have to end just a minute early or so because we have another committee that will be starting right after this. So with that, um first I'd like to um see if someone can move approval for the minutes of march twelfth, twenty twenty six. So

Okay, all in favor? Say aye. Aye. That passes. Um next on our agenda is the zoning ordinance work program and that is Leslie and Bill will be leading that. And if Leslie, um since you are apparently retiring, can you just give us a little bit of your background so we can Honor you briefly. We didn't realize this would be perhaps your last time in front of us.
Well that you're asking a lot. Um
Leslie Johnson. Yes. Let
me introduce myself first. I'm Leslie Johnson. I'm the zoning administrator and um Um yes, I'm I'm I'm excited, a little anxious, um, but I to be honest with you, we have a great group and I think we have good hands. Um that we're the division will be left in good hands. And so um yeah, I've been with the county thirty eight years. I started in zoning administration actually. Um Doing Zoning compliance letters. I did a few amendments. I did the pawn shop amendment. I did a fence amendment. Um what other I worked on some of the um now we call them religious assembly by right amendments and some other things that didn't get passed. Um I was fortunate enough not to get too involved in the commercial and industrial amendment back in the late eighties, early nineties, but that's
kind of before your time. And then I spent about ten years in zoning evaluation doing um Cases. Um and I still go by some of those cases today and look and I'm like, they look pretty good now. When I first after you drive by after you first do them, it's like, Ooh, I could have done this better, I could have done that better. And then I went into doing permit you know, in charge of the permit branch, so And then came back upstairs doing the zoning administration. So I've enjoyed working for the county. It's a great place. And so you're
retiring in September.
I am retiring in Sept early September, right after Labor Day. September eighth, so I'll Take a little bit of time the week before off and I'll come in and turn in my key and badge and my computer and Say goodbye.
Well I just wanna thank you on behalf of everybody on the planning commission. Uh we've worked with you um long and hard on lots of different zoning ordinance amendments and the entire overhaul of the zoning ordinance. And you've just been a treasure to work with and your knowledge is so immense and I just appreciate all your your patience and your knowledge and and what I really like is that you tell us when we're wrong. Like, no, that isn't going to work. And this is why and you know, you need to have that uh information come to you straight. So anyway, you will really be missed. Um, but I know that we'll be le you you will be leaving this work in the capable hands of your team. And um with that um Mr.
Malin, if you would like to go ahead and start. Oh okay. Thank you.
My last my last hurrah. It's been a pleasure working for all of you and and being a part of the county. I think, you know, there's a lot has been accomplished over thirty eight years when you think back about what's been developed.
