you and it's like what's in the unsaid, but also in the playfulness and the desire and
Um yeah, the the sexual side, your sexuality I think is a huge
important pillar of a good strong relationship.
Again, it's about being curious and it's about having a sense of adventure, a sense of fun, a sense of what's new, as opposed to well, this is the way we've always done it, so therefore it needs to stay the same, you know?
Um I think from a couples therapist perspective, there are certainly red flags in relation to couples maybe that aren't suitable for couples' therapy.
I think that's probably important to know.
Not every couple is suitable for therapy.
And by that I mean, you know, if you there's obvious issues of domestic violence, that, you know, could put either one of the parties at further risk of of maltreatment if you're asked them asking them to come into um a therapy room and be vulnerable and be really
honest.
So domestic violence is a huge
red flag for couples therapy, for it to be effective as a barrier.
Um, then just on from that would be like ongoing addiction that's not not being treated.
Um, it's very hard to do therapy with a couple where
the diversion um for attention is been taken elsewhere.
And similarly with um infidelity or with an affair, if somebody is actively participating in um in an affair, it's really impossible for them to focus fully on couples therapy.
And so they wouldn't be conducive to to therapy.
And then other little things, not little things, I don't mean to minimize them, but um
Untreated psychiatric conditions like depression, like bipolar, like schizophrenia.
It's not to say that you can't work with people who have these conditions.
Um, but it's like if they're unmedicated or if they're untreated and if there's not uh an acknowledgement that these issues exist, it becomes very diff difficult to to work with couples.
