Some of the nuance around EE bonds is in the taxation.

Because EE bonds are tax deferred, if you will, and that you don't pay anything until the interest is paid out, which is all at the end.

So when you go and that bond matures, then you're going to pay all of that.

Now that's only taxable on the federal side.

So depending on your state, that may or may not matter.

Local taxes may or may not matter.

So that's kind of a nuance.

Make sure that it's not going to come to maturity at your highest income year ever, because that would stink a little bit.

And then there are some caveats to that.

So if you withdraw your EE bond and then you use it for education, you might not have to pay the expense or the...

taxes thank you on that or if you're using it as like a 529 rollover you technically can do that there's certain limits and there's a little bit of nuance that's kind of a newer thing yeah so i think somewhat there and i don't think you can do it for your child who which is what they're talking about in this situation yeah it'd have to be for you yes exactly so

So there's some nuance.

You could do a little bit of specific research because you also asked about child care expenses.

I think some of those maybe count.

Definitely not all of them do.

So just make sure you know as you're taking it out.

But I think from a broader perspective, if you're going to use this as an investment vehicle, I would probably weigh more on the side of how much return versus risk am I willing to take?

And does this vehicle make sense?
