I'm fascinated by your work in forensic psychology, especially as it relates to analyzing serial killers like Ed Kemper.
Can you talk about the process of working with violent offenders?
I actually did have a question about just your opinion on the case of Kemper.
Sure.
And it's similar to Dahmer, right?
We covered this when we did the Dahmer on Dahmer and we used his interview actually with my boss, Nancy Glass.
A lot of what he focused on was about his mother and his upbringing and how his mother was...
you know, cold and distant and never held him as a child.
And then you have Ed Kemper, who had an abusive mother.
Ultimately, towards the end of Kemper's killing spree, he feels like, you know, these people are dying innocently.
This is really about me and my mom.
And in order for this to end, I need to kill her.
He makes that decision, and he's very clear about that.
Mm-hmm.
Do you believe that the majority of everything that went that was involved in this case directly comes back to his relationship with his mother or is it other comorbidities or however you call it in your field like you were just speaking earlier?
Some people have a keen sense of human nature.
They understand people's motives, fears, and behavioral patterns.
Many use that trait for good.
