a little bit off topic but i kind of had a fledgling snooker career when i was when i was about 16 yeah very like yeah i dipped my toe to so i used to play at scottie's on derby lane and um yeah i made some bad choices and thought i could be probably better than i ever was but give up school not school college i went i went back to do my a levels at west derby and then

Like, you know, done the old one where you don't tell your mum, you're not going.

And then one day I came in and I'd basically been that in Scotty's all day playing snooker.

And I used to have a deal with the owner where I'd get there at nine, clean the tables till it opened at 12.

And then he'd let me play for free then till whenever I wanted.

And then one day I just got in, as you do, walking at like quarter five, as if I'd been at college all day.

And I was like, oh, did you have a good day?

Yeah, what do you have?

And I'd be like, government and politics, business.

It was just getting hard.

And I just turned around and I just got a fucking big right hook.

You lying little bastard.

And she'd been in that day and had a meeting with the head and he'd threw me out.

Right.

and then she was like what you're doing i was like and i was just trying to be then she went to snooker club and went mad at the snooker club which you know and the owner was like i didn't know he wasn't and it was just so then i had a little go and probably i went through for about 12 months 18 months but it just i probably knew deep down i was never

gonna be able to make too much out of it right so then i just fell into a bit of a rat race then i get them normal jobs like you know working in factories and stuff and worked in like a video shop you know like a like a blockbuster but it was just a regional one just to and never really

And it's funny this, because I used to work in a video shop called Swan Video and I literally would work out my money for the week and whatever it was back then, 40, 45 quid a week.

It would pay for me to be able to go to match

and play snooker right for the week so that and that was my only focus and yeah you know like if liverpool had a midweek home game i wouldn't be able to go because i'd literally had enough money just to be able to play in the summer league and the winter league and play so yeah that my own my old focus was just being able to go to match and play snooker early for a few years right so what what's the point then at which you you start to think the snooker's not working out and
