And in between, I used to go back and work in the video shop, used to just play snooker then for a bit of fun and like in evening leagues and stuff, but then used to do more footy coaching.

So then that's where the passion for coaching like I do now in my spare time came from, but also to be fair, triggered me.

for the career I've ended up going into, which is a teacher, that kind of, you know, working with kids and seeing the difference you can make and stuff, yeah.

Yeah, yeah.

football teacher are you so it's from that sprang what you ended up doing and even you know now you just said I've never really thought of this probably subliminally my favourite teacher in school was my geography teacher but he was the coach of our year's footy team in West Derby

so i'm sure he was my favorite teacher because he was my footy coach not necessarily in hindsight he definitely wasn't the best geography teacher he'd just sit telling your stories about nights out and stuff in hindsight you know i mean but when you're in school they're the best ones yeah definitely but now i'm in the profession you're like they're the ones you you hate because you're getting oh no no not another story but uh but yeah so football has been kind of intertwined and everything i've ever done really through all that yeah um so

kind of being a bit more sensible and you know like got me first proper girlfriend and what have you and got like a proper job i worked down and um i worked in town sorry um with the the tax credit so i worked for the government doing processing people's tax credit claims i had a first like proper job my mum was like you know you've got a proper job and i was getting up and getting a bus from all swan and i'd do like a full eight till four eight till i four and get in and and then um

Just kind of hit a bit of a ceiling in there and I wasn't enjoying it.

And then I remember seeing an advert for a job in the Echo.

Do you remember what you used to do the Thursday night?

Echo, the job used to be in there.

It used to be like a supplement.

And I just remember seeing a job for premises manager at All Saints Catholic High School in Kirby.

And...

i was just like what like what's that i mean i was like looked at it but the money was brilliant compared to what i was on it was like six grand more or whatever and i just read it and it was like it was so like in hindsight and the woman i still speak to her now so she'll probably kill me for saying this but the woman who must have wrote it was so generic it was like so i don't know if they even knew what they want so it wasn't a caretaker it was like an office-based person who like overseen the caretakers if that makes sense but

It was very ambiguous in hindsight, the job description.

But I just applied for the thing and I got no chance of getting it.

But it was my chance to do my first CV, or proper CV.

And I thought, well, if I get it, basically I went and got it.

And then got the job.
