And you can look at like Dalton Varshow struggles early in the year and how bizarre that was.
You can look at.
Ernie Clements kind of slumps that he's had defensively this year.
Alejandro Kirk's throwing behind the plate has regressed.
Jesus Sanchez was not unplayable defensively before he became a Toronto Blue Jay.
And then he became that.
Their pitchers as a group were like the worst fielding pitchers in baseball.
So I think you really want to get to the bottom of why that happened.
And then I think base running is just a massive area of opportunity for the team as well.
The Blue Jays for many years have been one of the poor base running teams in baseball.
And a lot of that comes down to your personnel.
But if you're not going to slug, as they didn't this year, if you're not going to hit a bunch of doubles and homers,
like you need to nail defense you need to nail base running like you need to be excelling in those areas because you're not going to be overcoming any deficiencies there with three run homers and two run homers and big spots so i think the blue jays really need to take a deep dive in those areas and figure out how they can improve and be better next year
Well, I think that the lockout is actually a serious factor in this because come December 1st, you may not be able to have contact with him.
And like Vlad's a very resourced individual.
I'm not worried about him like not having somewhere
not having good instruction.
But you want the messaging in that instruction to be consistent with...
with and be aligned with what you want from him like you want to have a very detailed thorough plan for him going into this offseason that he can carry through uh december if you're not able to have contact with him so i i just think that there has to be um
Certainly accountability on his part to show up every single day this winter to whatever training environment that he's in with a purpose and with intent and following a structured, considered plan that is going to address the deficiencies that led to his season this year.
