have better and more equitable distribution of vaccines, but also just you know help with the day-to-day um challenges and and needs uh around the world.

And you know, I've been following Monica's advocacy uh for India and elsewhere in the world pretty closely.
And I think as um clinicians, we have
a a large responsibility as well as um potentially a lot of uh sway in in helping to change policy to advocate for some of that these equity issues.
Defer to Monica on this though.
Yeah, it's all about reassurance right now.
It's, you know, actively encouraging people to get back out there and um, you know, see their kids, um, see their grandchildren, try to do some of the social activities that they enjoyed prior to the pandemic and making um, you know, even sharing your own personal stories about how you're getting out there and and it's okay for them to do it too.
So I think as much reassurance as we can give the better.
Yeah, I think that's a great question.
Uh I mean
hearing about some of these stories, Claire and Chris, that you're bringing up, uh, the conversations that you're
that you were having with patients and family members who were coming into the emergency department and kind of distress and needed urgent medical decisions to be made, you know, those conversations can be hard to have uh hard to have in person.
And you know, there's so many important um decisions that have to be made so quickly.
And now we're having these conversations over the video or the telephone, um, even with these hospital visitor restrictions, the infection precautions.
And so, you know, I I think Lynn and I really wanted to share strategies that we've learned so that we can still preserve, you know, human connection, warmth.
And I think m many of
the conversations that you have in person, the the conversations that you had over video or telephone, they they have the same principles, you know, careful preparation, building trust, having clear goals, um, being really mindful of emotions.
So I think those same principles kind of hold.
Yeah, and I think one of the things that came out of that story for us was, you know, this really marked feeling of abandonment that the uh patients uh and family members experience.
