Because I hate being Becky Baylor.
And I found that I have had to do that a lot more lately.
Just sort of a little bit of self-preservation stuff and just not chewing off, well, biting off more than I can chew is sort of one thing that I've had to learn to do.
So, yeah, just being able to just have a normal life is, you know, is what it's all about for me at the moment.
It is the most surreal, crazy experience.
Hasn't gone down that well with certain people.
Like my mum and dad don't want to hear about it and don't want to face it because that's too real for them and they never thought they'd be...
seeing their daughter pick out her coffin and all of those sorts of things.
They thought they'd be long gone.
You've got to make it fun, right?
First thing that I did is I got in touch with one of my beautiful, beautiful, beautiful friends, Annie, who is an air hostess, an emcee.
a celebrant and just an all-round amazing woman and she's really vibrant her and I've got sort of quite similar personalities in a lot of ways and we laugh at the same silly shit so got her on board and I said Annie I think I'm gonna need to start putting some things in place and I'd love you to be my funeral celebrant and she was like yes Bex I can absolutely do that for you and not that it's something that I do want to do but let's go do this
So first step was sort of meeting with her, chatting about sort of venues, what we wanted to do.
We actually dressed up like Thelma and Louise and she's got a spider, an Alfa Romeo spider.
We had the most beautiful day.
We were like, I'm a real water baby.
And I'm like, let's go somewhere to chat that's by the water, whether it's the beach or the lake or what have you.
And we just randomly ended up out at Lake Karapiro.
which has been a hugely significant part of my life through growing up with my dad being a rowing coach, going and supporting Hamilton Boys High Rowing for years and years and years, rowing myself, then having Maddie row and it's sort of gone the full cycle, which is really, really crazy.
So we ended up out there and then we were sort of talking about venues and it's like, where would you like to have it?
