There's contemporary coverage of California's bartender's guilds, the championship that they held at the Beverly Hills Hilton, where Galassini's Saturn is the winning drink.
And that was then selected to represent the United States on the international cocktail competition stage.
So this isn't just bartender lore.

So the most reasonable explanation for this is that over time, you know, people would say it won in California.
It won in California, went on to world competition, and then it morphed into won the world competition.

So it's not terribly inaccurate, but it's exactly kind of smoothing that kind of happens, right?
