So in that 67 coverage, this drink, the Saturn, it fits perfectly into this Apollo era America, right?

Yeah.

Saturn rockets are the engines that are supposed to get us to the moon, and everyone is obsessed with the future.

Naming a big, tiki showpiece after a ringed planet and garnishing it in a way that recalls those rings just, like, totally made sense.

Yeah.

Right?

Yeah.

So according to a lot of people, which is kind of a hearsay again –

When they retell it, they will retell it that, well, the drink's name was originally called the X-15 after an experimental rocket plane that was breaking all these speed records and altitude records in the early 60s.

And then after that plane, there was a fatal crash, right, in 67.

Supposedly, Popo decided that he didn't want to leave people with a bad taste and have this kind of like drink named after a tragedy.

So he renamed it to the Saturn to kind of keep with the space theme.

And again, do we have 1960 menu or newspaper clippings that shows the drink was labeled as the X-15?

As far as I've been able to see through my research, no, nothing like that exists.

But for some reason, it's like this tale that people tell.

So now, why did this drink stand out in a competition, Jules?

the Saturn's build is unusual for tiki drinks at this time because almost all of those drinks were built on rum.

Built on rum.

Multiple rums.
