You know, I think there was obviously Rasmus Anderson had kind of a target on him given his contract status for a long time, but moving on from longer term contracts like Nazem Kadri and Mackenzie Weeger around the deadline last year really seemed to kind of indicate, you know, a true rebuild for this team, you know, and I don't know that anyone's really actually said it as much as it's just been sort of let the actions do

the speaking and I think you know Craig Conroy has made it known that they wanted to get younger they wanted to build and gain younger assets and I think that's kind of you know you could say this offseason hasn't been real loud per se but I think it really did start at the deadline

last year and you look at some of those vets that left and are now gone and then blake coleman was moved just a couple of weeks ago to minnesota and uh and olimata i mean this team is really in a transitional phase and and starting to turn it over to younger players uh trying to find them spots and

I think there was close to a dozen players they didn't renew or let walk.

It's just a really, really big change from top to bottom in this organization.

And they'll have a lot of guys coming out of college.

Their contracts are pushing right up to 50.

You know, they let some guys walk that had been around the organization for a long time, some, some longtime Wranglers even.

And, and they're just, they're just looking to the future and hoping now that you've found a few players, you know, nine more players picked in the NHL draft two in the first round.

And so now you're just hoping that you got some, some kids that are going to start to push and it's probably realistically going to be another year or two, but it's,

So that's kind of where this team's at.

And Simone Nemech is one of the newer guys coming into over the offseason and but yet fits their their age window around, you know, that 23 and under.

So it's exciting, but it's still very, you know, dedicated to the future, I would say.

Yeah, I think, you know, originally, and probably for even Flames fans, you think maybe the price tag is pretty steep.

I mean, you're giving up first round picks.

And again, this is a team that was looking at, obviously, picks being huge value and huge assets for them because that's part of the rebuild process.

But Craig Conroy talked about, you know, never...

never moving off the stance that their first-round picks, their own first-round picks were never in play.

And so they kept those, which were obviously the higher ones, and made the ninth overall pick and the 30th overall pick.

They weren't going to move off of their own picks.
