It's completely relative.
But generally, giving yourself a plan B or giving yourself an out means you're going to take that when times get tough.
And I don't give myself that option.
There is no plan B. And my plan B was to leave in an ambulance.
And I was very, very aware of that.
But what that does is it closes off your mind to the point when you know you're going to be suffering.
Fuck me.
That day three when my Achilles tore, the pain I felt was like nothing else.
My entire body was just radiating pain because of my torn Achilles.
And if I had given myself an out or had decided beforehand if things go this wrong or if a muscle tears or something goes, I'll pull out.
You will take that.
It's too fucking hard not to.
And what I generally do myself, and I'm not necessarily saying this is what everyone should do, but it's how I'll speak my story and my truth and the hope that it helps, is I don't give myself that plan B. I commit fully to it.
And I was committed to finishing the finish line or leaving in an ambulance.
Frostbite was one of those initial fears that I had.
The next one was hypothermia, which is the one that can really fuck you.
One girl that was running the race as well got pulled out to hypothermia and had to be rushed to a hospital.
And that's a real problem because hypothermia can potentially lead to death.
And I had an issue in the Sahara.
