you would hope that common sense does prevail at some point.
And I think that's still a reasonable assumption.
But anyone, frankly, who gets on television or sits in a podcast and tries to claim that they know exactly when this is going to end and how it's going to pan out, frankly, they're either a fool or a charlatan or both because no one knows.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
Look, what we're effectively saying to our members is that firstly, remember that super is the longest term investment any of us are really ever going to have.
and that um these sort of events uh you know geopolitical crises wars uh major market downturns oil price shocks um you know stock market crashes or whatever these are these events are inevitable they are part and parcel of any long-term investment journey and so consequently um
you know, if you are prepared to think long-term about your super, treat super as a longer-term investment, then these sort of events, you're best to kind of ride through them.
But generally speaking, our advice is that we can't predict when these things start.
We can't predict when they're going to end, but we do know they come to an end.
But also before they come to an end, they do provide opportunity.
And if I think about what our investment team is doing and
what many of our external managers are doing.
Are they panicking and selling into this market weakness?
No, they're not.
They're looking for opportunities to buy.
So I think that's one key message.
The other message, though, is if you are relatively young and you're thinking, well, look, I've got a lot of years to run.
I'm in my 20s.
I'm in my early 30s.
