Um, in terms of, uh, trade, certainly you have seen, uh, some of the oil deals that have gone through recently where, um, I think the Iranians, for example, might've, uh, the, the, the tolls that they're currently charging.
Um, I think I read the other day that they're charging them in Chinese RMB.
Yeah.
In Yuan.
Um, and certainly some of the oil deals might've been done in Yuan.
Um,
Now, whether that becomes a widespread trend, I'm frankly skeptical.
Right.
At the end of the day, the US dollar is still likely to be the primary currency of international trade for the foreseeable future.
Yeah, well, put it this way, he would love to see a US dollar weakening because he has a fairly narrow view of what's good for the US economy.
In my view, a wrong view in many cases.
But certainly when you look at the US dollar, it is still a significant part of global central bank reserves, even though a number of central banks have diversified their foreign reserves, putting more into gold, putting more into other currencies.
But the reality is, again, it comes back to the underlying markets, the U.S.
Treasury market, the U.S.
equity market.
These are the biggest financial markets in the world.
And there's not likely to be a substitute anytime soon.
And if I'm going to get paid in a different currency, if I get paid in U.S.
dollars, I can park the money very, very quickly and cheaply.
And if I can convert it very, very cheaply and quickly, it's a bit more problematic potentially in other currencies.
