But again, you're dealing with everything that went wrong,

could go wrong it seems like went wrong and last year I remember being around them a couple times when they were visiting in the Baltimore DC area and I wrote an in-depth article about them and how they're you're hitting you know how they had made so much contact and they had like it they had that juju they had that intangible we're going to win games we have no business winning everything that could go could have gone right it felt like went right for them and if you remember they were went into the deadline kind of like sellers and buyers they wanted to offload some contracts I talked to an executive that said

Obviously had a magnificent second half, rode all that to such a significant October.

But I think they, more than anybody, and there's other teams like this, Baltimore Orioles, the Detroit Tigers, who have gone to the playoffs and feels like we thought we had a big window, but we don't.

The Jays, to their credit, kind of pushed their chips in last year.

And I think teams need to acknowledge that you have so little control.

You can put the roster together, but then that's it.

You have so little control over how this team meshes and who stays healthy and who has career years and who exceeds your valuations internally and who doesn't, that if you have a season like the Blue Jays do, it doesn't mean that the window is going to be open for three to five years.

It just doesn't.

So I think if you're Toronto, you're certainly not going to burn this to the studs.

You're going to look for guys on expiring contracts, George Springer, Kevin Gossman, obviously the two big names that come up.

But, you know, I think...

Last year was so special, and I don't think people realize how special that was in baseball.

And I was talking to Max Scherzer about this just two days ago when they were in D.C., and he said last year the Blue Jays felt like the 19 Nationals.

They felt like a faded team, right?

And you can't put that in a valuation.

You can't put that in a model.

Front offices can't quantify that.
