We all like movies and we rotate where we go and we go see revivals playing at different movie theaters.

It's really nice.

One of the big ways to push back on that pseudo-productive, let me just demonstrate activity with emails and quick responses mindset is making workloads more transparent.

This is one of the big things we're lacking in modern knowledge work is we don't think enough about how do we manage what's on our plate.

So I'm going to give you a thought experiment, but imagine I have in a shared document or a Trello, like something that other people can see in my organization.

I have a list of everything I'm working on.

It's not some black box that no one knows this is what I'm working on.

And maybe I have it divided at the front of the list, active.

These are the things I'm actively working on right now.

Other part of the list, an ordered queue of the things I'm waiting to work on.

And as I finish something on my active list, I pull in the next thing from the waiting list.

And now imagine you're able to make this transparent to other people.

Like, hey, can you do this for me?

Yeah, sure.

I'm going to put it on my list.

Here it is.

As soon as it gets to active, I'll let you know, hey, I'm working on this actively.
