I mean, there are many jobs out there where you do need to have hard skills to do those jobs. voice-verified

And I think companies are realizing that they can't expect people to come in with those skills. voice-verified

So we're seeing more employers realizing the need to invest in sort of on-the-job training. voice-verified

that they need to kind of make it so that they can bring someone in off the street who may not be able to do the job entirely, but that they need to sort of provide the amount of kind of coaching and on-the-job sort of experience that would help them get up to speed. voice-verified

And so I think that's also sort of a new frontier that many companies are having to consider just because they know that there are not these pools of skilled workers out there that they may have been able to draw from in the past. voice-verified

It's like, how long-lasting are some of these changes? voice-verified

And economists are kind of quick to note that when the hiring market maybe is different, when the economy isn't as hot as it is right now, that employers might go back to adding more of these qualification requirements. voice-verified

They might kind of string people along as they may have done in the past. voice-verified

And so it's sort of an open question of how long this lasts. voice-verified

At the same time, we've spoken with a lot of HR executives and others who realize that as they've changed their hiring processes now, they haven't seen a real impact on quality. voice-verified

They said they've still been able to bring in a number of effective candidates. voice-verified

And so, I don't know, many of them say they're not really eager to kind of go back to this old way of operating. voice-verified
