That's the thing that gets me don't don't tell people
this here's a recipe this recipe will work you will be able to teach your dog this behavior using this recipe but then fail to tell them that there are ingredients missing from the recipe and when they can't achieve the results that you promised don't just tell people well you must have done it wrong you need to take it wrong or you need to do it more or you need to yeah yeah yeah you know that don't
that really and then and don't do that to people and then on the side employ methods with your own dogs that of course work and then lie to people about the methods that you employ that that just leaves people feeling like like they're not good enough um there's plenty of that going around we don't need more of that it's disingenuous i think um
It's very disingenuous.
That's what gets me is like, I don't want to lie to people about what works and what doesn't work.
I think it's okay to say, yeah, I screwed up.
And if you watch, you'll see me watch me long enough, you're gonna see it because I'm not perfect.
But on the whole, I think I'm doing okay.
And if I don't know how to help somebody, I'm just going to tell them, look, I don't really know.
I'll think on it.
I'll give you my best answer, but I don't know if it's right or not.
I'm not going to tell people to do something that I know is a lie.
Especially when it comes to something like a freaking recall.
I'm not going to screw around with a method that takes a year to train when a dog's life is at stake.
Yes, and agility is one thing if we're going to think about ethics and morals and all that.
What kind of aversives do you want to employ to get a good agility performance?
We can talk about that.
But when it comes to something like a recall that is life or death, unless the aversive that you are using is death, it is not, you know what I mean, like the cost benefit.
Any aversive could be on the table if it keeps a dog from dying.
If it keeps a dog from running off into a Florida pond filled with Florida gators and getting eaten.
