We can be defiant one day and compliant the next day.
And what I want is just for people who want to speak up when it matters to have that skill set and not think, oh, I wanted to do this, but I didn't know how because I wasn't practiced in it.
And that is what I want because every single act of consent, of dissent, of compliance, it really affects our lives, our workplaces, our communities.
It creates the world we live in.
And so having defiance accessible for everyone and having a place where we can all defy when we want to is really important to me.
So that would be success for me.
What about happiness?
What makes you happy?
So happiness would be more relational.
So certainly I get lots of emails and messages from readers to say that the book has had an impact and that means a great deal to me.
But also just the happiness I've really noticed is like many different things on a daily basis.
Like I love having my cup of Earl Grey tea.
I love having my family around and my friends around.
And just that relational aspect is often what causes me
to be happy.
It gives me happiness and joy and also nature.
I have to say nature, being out in nature and all with that sometimes some of the splendid views in the mountains and other places gives me a lot of joy and happiness.
That's great.
By the way, your book reminded me in many respects of a book on character.
I interviewed General Stanley McChrystal, and it's just the importance of character.
