whole roster, even with all of the great pitching was basically running through Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh's production.
And they were both playing as well as they've ever played before.
Well, it turns out that those career years are called career years for a reason.
And we've seen a lot of regression from those two.
And from other guys on the roster.
And I know I look at the Blue Jays and I see the same thing.
I see this, you know, that team runs through Vlad.
George Springer was fantastic last year.
And now there is some positive performance for you guys.
But it's the same kind of thing.
It's just so hard to string together those long streaks of excellence when your best players are not playing their best baseball.
Whether that's injury or just underperformance or just...
you know, bad luck, cold streaks, those things happen.
So it's been frustrating to watch mostly because I think if you talk to an average Mariners fan and I would agree with this assessment, I think that this is the most talented roster in the American League West by a fairly significant margin.
So I still think they'll win this division at the end of the day, but it's such an awful, awful division and expectations were so high coming off of last season that
and then the Brendan Donovan trade and a couple other moves to try to improve the roster and seeing the Rob Refsnyder acquisition completely fall on its face, that there's this looming sense of, and I think it's good and healthy for us as Mariner fans, that, yeah, we're doing okay and everything's all right and we're tied for first place, but we're learning to start to expect more.
And that's kind of a double-edged sword for the front office and the org because now, because of their good work,
They've raised expectations.
Well, that comes with more pressure, more demand.
You have to continue to get better.
