Now, where these talks are going to go, you know,
If we're expecting peace between Israel and Lebanon, I think that's naivete.
I think any Israeli official or any Israeli who's saying that is being naive.
The Lebanese are not saying that.
When the Lebanese use the term peace, they distinguish it from what they call normalization, which is what the rest of us call peace, right?
They have a very idiosyncratic interpretation of peace, which is just like quiet along the border.
But that quiet is not going to be permanent because unless you get rid of Hezbollah, then it's going to be a deceptive quiet until the next round of fighting whenever that happens, 10, 20 years, just like after 2006.
And what we're looking at now is the Lebanese demands and sequencing actually parallel exactly their demands and sequencing after 2006.
They're not talking about dishonoring Hezbollah.
They didn't talk about disarming Hezbollah back then.
They wanted the Israelis to stop their operations, get out of Lebanon, prisoner exchange, border demarcation.
Does this sound familiar?
It's because this is exactly what the Lebanese are demanding now.
And then the issue of Hezbollah, right?
Don't listen to me.
Listen to Lebanese Prime Minister Noef Saleh.
I'm saying we'll talk about it internally, meaning we're going to ask Hezbollah very nicely if they'll disarm.
And obviously, Hezbollah is not going to say yes, which means that the problem that is going to restart the conflict is going to continue.
It's going to metastasize.
