It was the most western province or state in East Germany.
The capital is Magdeburg.
If you are driving across Germany, for example, if you are driving from, let's say, from Frankfurt and or Cologne and or Dusseldorf or Duisburg to Berlin, you will drive straight through Saxony-Anhalt.
It is a very beautiful state, not particularly heavily populated state.

Goslar is in Saxony-Anhalt.
It was the place where the Europeans, or they were at the time Saxons, found the biggest silver deposits in the medieval age.
Ah, yeah.
It was actually the place, ironically, in economic history, that sparked the re-emergence of money.
So money disappeared in the Dark Ages.
And in around 1000 AD or 1100 AD, lots and lots of silver was found in the Harz Mountains, which are right in the middle of Saxony and Halle.
So again, Magdeburg is the capital.
It's right in the center of Germany.
It was, again, as I say, the most western part of East Germany.
That is important, John, in the context that it's also the state that has suffered most emigration.
out of it to the more prosperous parts of Western Germany since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
And that is seen as part of the background story because the people who emigrated out of, well, they didn't emigrate, they migrated out of that area to maybe the Bavarias or maybe the Hanovers, the
