I think that we can actually, in a way, have our cake and eat it, which is rare for an economist to say.

But it is that you can add these units whilst overall emissions are falling.

Because like in France, it's nuclear power is what will be powering the extra electricity consumption.

Yeah, like, so this trend, I take this back to further years back, right?

So we've had this big, you know, confluence of tech and pharma and other kind of technological firms coming into Ireland.

And one thing that's mentioned in this piece is the apprenticeship system.

So you have more apprentices, people who don't need two years and then go into work.

We actually have, so people think of apprenticeships, they think of, you know, going out to be a carpenter or a plumber.

We have dozens of apprenticeships that are available right now for people to go and work in like data centres to do biotech kind of apprenticeships.

But there's very low uptake of them.

And it is because in education, people tend to herd around kind of three and four year degrees.

Their friends are doing it, so they'll do it too.

And then they'll figure out the career.

thereafter so even if you provide kind of AI focus kind of paths like this I think people will still go into the three four year courses so what does matter is what's on the content within those courses so in some universities now like DCU does this well my course I did one in Trinity where they'll send you out to a company in your third or fourth year and you get that practical real-world experience that's been going for a couple years now that though that those you know add-ons to courses are happening

I think more of that will matter.

And that'll maybe satisfy what some of these firms are saying.

Now, the wider point, are we all ready for what AI is bringing to us?

No, nobody's ready.

But like, we're all scrambling here to try and figure out.
