And so that's really the church that I know is predominantly black.

And what I found is there was a standard that shifted for me when I started to be trained for ministry.

And so you could almost get away with some things sexually as long as it was hush-hush and secret.

But once you crossed over and you were identified as a future leader, you were identified as someone that was called, there was this next standard.

And that's where, for me, the damage really began to happen.

And because that was identified in me at such a young age, right around 16, those are pretty crucial years, just really a year before I went to college, because I went to college at 17.

And so this shift happened that created just a really thick layer of confusion for me when I didn't really understand how to be...

woman and black and sexual, even within my own context, because now I'm leader, now I'm being trained in this capacity.

And so you can't lead unless you have all these things, right?

Suddenly I couldn't wear pants.

Suddenly I had to be careful because you don't want to be a distraction from your ministry.

And I'm like, wait,

I'm so confused.

I'm just standing here telling people what the Bible says.

Yes.

Both.

Yeah.

Both.

So mostly women, but one man that was pretty consistent in saying that.

And I get their heart.
