And so how better to help our communities, our nation, than to ensure that we have a diverse employee roster and it brings in a different lens, it bring in a different leverage.

And so we ensure that we are looking like and mirroring what our country is.

But there was the second part of that, which was the other executive order, 140,

And that was to ensure socioeconomic equity in all communities.

And so you will find words like marginalized community, underrepresented community, under-resourced communities.

And those are the places where we wanted to ensure that those American dollars that they're looking at and have their sticky fingers in right now, the American dollars are reaching the neighborhoods that need them the most.

And so we have support services and resources and we have an issue.

We need to make sure that those resources find those communities who are most impacted by the lack of resources.

Everything we did in the Biden Harris administration was data driven.

We had to have evidence to support anything that we were addressing, any barriers that we saw, anything that we were addressing.

We could not just make a decision.

Matter of fact, there were internal counselors to say to us or say to me, Alaysia, this may cause there to be some type of lawsuit.

Let's make sure that this is legal.

Everything we did supported pointing to the direction for the need.

For instance, with the labor department,

unemployment was at the most high when the Biden administration came in.

And so what we did was look at the statistics to show us where is unemployment the highest.

And when you look at unemployment, then you will find those poverty areas, those communities who had a social economic struggle.

What we did in the Department of Labor is ensure that we provided registered apprenticeship programs, which are skill building career programs to allow those individuals to have a chance and a career pathway for good paying, sustainable jobs.
