I feel like we're doing a lot of defining today.
Okay, let's define it.
So this is how I would view timeout.
A timeout is...
like something in a sporting event.
We're going to take a break, we're going to huddle, maybe we're going to have a little bit of water, and we're going to reset.
That's a timeout.
And so in that situation, I do think timeout is very effective.
But I would pick the reason why you're choosing timeout.
And I would say these are like red light offenses.
So I'd pick red, yellow, and green in your box of what are these behaviors I don't want to see.
And
Red light is always going to be like my child might hurt themselves, they're in danger, or they might hurt somebody else.
That is an automatic timeout.
And that might be a situation out in public or somewhere in your house.
And if they are doing something that is absolutely not okay, you're going to stop in that moment, you call the timeout, and either you're going to huddle or you're going to tell them what is wrong that is dangerous, but it's very quick and brief.
and then we're going to reset, and then we're going to move on.
