I was in fact involved in one of the first high dose psilocybin studies, say pharmacokinetic studies here at UW Madison over 13, 14 years ago, demonstrating its safety profile across individuals that were deemed healthy.

But there's still monitoring that you need to do prior to, but not continuously during the study.

Whereas I believe with Ibogaine, that's different.

You want continuous medical monitoring.

Because of the risk of heart attack?

I think it's actually a slowing of the rhythm.

This is not in my area of expertise, but I actually think there's a risk of a slowing down of the heart firing that results in some sort of cardiac arrest or Ibogaine.

Did you start it by saying using psychedelic therapy?

It did say that.

Interesting, yeah.

I think anyone who's trying to use these compounds therapeutically, and that's not, people will say all the time, like I use it as part of a spiritual practice or a contemplative practice.

I think that intentionality matters greatly.

I do think that some people can get so fascinated with the idea of leaving here and exploring out there that some people would rather be out there than here.

And that is definitely a risk for doing high-dose psychedelic work and doing it repeatedly.

And that's not the same thing as abuse potential that I'm talking about, but more just...

being inclined to want to live in those spheres of existence as opposed to wanting to be here in this one.

And again, I haven't worked directly with Ibogaine.

That being said, I know that I have anecdotally heard and lots of people will say after one session, I dramatically shifted my perspective on this X, Y, and Z. It was never the same to me.

I never looked at it the same.
