I've heard people report this.

There's not a clinical trial that supports that necessarily.

But these compounds do occasion profound shifts in

in people where they might never look at a certain thing the same way again.

So I could see how technically that could happen.

But the complexity of what I know is associated with a cycle, a pervasive and kind of life-entrenching cycle of substance use, that miraculously does not shift with one session.

I've never personally witnessed that.

I've never read any trials about that happening.

So I think that's kind of a misrepresentation of the complexity of recovery.

Yeah.

So this idea of neurogenesis is kind of an exciting one.

And there's definitely data to support this idea of changes in synaptic density and growth of synapses or dendritic growth.

There's also this really interesting effect of changing the way that brain networks work and the way they communicate with one another that happens in the presence of psilocybin.

So we have parts of the brain that would normally not communicate communicating with one another in ways that are a little unpredictable, but also seem kind of aligned with the idea of experiencing things in a completely new and interesting, profound way.

Sometimes it's like a felt sense that things are connected that you previously couldn't connect together.

Sometimes it's literally a thought of making a connection that has never occurred to you before.

And is that happening as a result of different pathways opening up or becoming available as a result?

That seems good to wonder that that might be the case.

But again, research is still forthcoming on the specificity of that.

I would say that that's a myth.
